How to merge PDF files into one document

Combine two or more PDFs when you need one file for an application, a report, or a set of scanned pages. The output keeps the pages from each input PDF together in the order shown in the loaded-file list.

Open the Merge PDF tool

Merge PDFs step by step

  1. Open Merge PDF and choose at least two PDF files. You can select several files at once or use “Add File” to add them one by one.
  2. Check the loaded-file list before merging. The tool adds pages from the first listed PDF, then the second, and so on. If the list is in the wrong order, remove and add the files again in your preferred order.
  3. Click “Merge PDF.” Your browser creates and downloads a file named pdpdf_merged.pdf.
  4. Open the downloaded copy and verify the page order, page count, forms, and links before sending it to someone else.

One file is not a merge. The tool now asks for at least two PDFs rather than adding an example document to your output.

Will the original PDFs change?

No. pdPDF reads the selected files in your browser, copies their pages into a new PDF, and downloads that new file. The originals remain on your device. The merge operation does not upload your document content to a pdPDF conversion server; the website itself still loads its normal assets over the internet.

When merging needs extra care

A merged file is a new document. If the originals contain digital signatures, interactive forms, bookmarks, attachments, or unusual security settings, do not assume those features will remain valid or behave the same way. Check the result in the PDF reader your recipient uses. If a PDF is encrypted or damaged, the tool may not load it.

If you need only certain pages from a large PDF, extract those pages first. If a scan is sideways, rotate its pages before combining it with other files.

Common questions

Can I merge a PDF and an image directly?

The Merge PDF tool accepts PDF files. Convert the image with JPG to PDF first, then add the resulting PDF to your merge.

Is there a file-size limit?

The operation uses your device’s browser memory. Very large or numerous PDFs may exceed what your browser or device can handle. Try smaller groups if the tab slows down or fails.

Can I merge just two pages from separate PDFs?

Yes. Extract the pages you need into new PDFs, then merge those files. Merging the originals would include all their pages.
